In Loving Memory of Ben Edge

The Dawson Creek Arts & Wellness Society recently received a generous $10,000 donation in memory of long-time Peace Region resident and local musician, Ben Edge.

Anyone who knew Ben understood how deeply music was woven into his life. A gifted singer, guitarist, songwriter, and performer, Ben had a rare ability to connect with people through both his music and his kindness. Following the disbanding of Piled Up, he continued collaborating with fellow musicians while working on his own material, always driven by his passion for creating and sharing music. Though his final song came too soon, Ben will forever be remembered as a front man - leading with not only his voice but also his heart.

Ben deeply cared for those he loved and strived to notice those who felt unseen. He strongly believed in lifting others up, making this gift feel especially fitting. A champion for the underdog, he worked quietly to help others feel safe, valued, and understood. His generosity, compassion, and genuine care for others left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

In honour of Ben’s life and legacy, the Arts and Wellness Society will be allocating the money to a fund specifically dedicated to music programming within our community. The fund will support opportunities such as singing, instrument lessons, and musical theatre, and other creative musical pursuits, helping aspiring young musicians discover the same joy and connection that music brought Ben throughout his life.

On behalf of the children, youth, future musicians, and the entire community, we extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to this meaningful tribute. Through their generosity, a piece of Ben’s legacy will continue to live on for years to come, creating opportunities and inspiring future generations in ways he would be proud of.
